Mississippians have some-more golf options than ever, from private clubs in a bigger cities to casino-sponsored review courses that have sprung adult on a Coast and in a Delta.

Because we lonesome golf for many years as a contributor and afterwards sports editor for The Clarion-Ledger, a editors during Mississippi Business Journal asked me to rate a courses in a state for their fifth annual “7 Best Golf Courses in Mississippi.” I, in turn, asked for a small help, combining a five-member row of Mississippi experts who total have 200-plus years of golfing experience.

Our row starts with Jim Gallagher Jr., a five-time PGA Tour leader and former Ryder Cup actor who now plays on a Champions Tour and lives in Greenwood. Lou Hart of Meridian is a former long-time village college manager who has won 9 Mississippi Women’s Amateur championships. Lan Gooch of Fulton, now a pro during Natchez Trace Golf Club, played many years on golf’s teenager joining tours and had a two-year stay on a PGA Tour. Leigh Brannan of Canton is a semi-retired bar pro who won a Mississippi Amateur and a Mississippi Open. And Tommy Snell of Gulfport is a long-time manager during Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and a maestro manners central and Golf Digest panelist who has officiated during a U.S. Women’s Open, a U.S. Junior Championship and a past 10 NCAA Division we inhabitant championships.

Each was asked to rate a courses of Mississippi in a accumulation of categories, from something as all-encompassing as best all-around golf knowledge to something as specific as best location, many scenic or toughest exam of golf.

With their input, we gathered a list of courses to revisit and play. The usually choice listed here that was unanimous among a selectors was that of Old Waverly as best all-around golf knowledge in a state. we don’t design everybody to determine with each choice on a list like this, though we consider there’s one thing we can all determine on, and that’s a fact that Mississippi has never had as many sundry and glorious golfing opportunities to suffer as it does today.
